Senior Postdoctoral Fellow Application & Instructions
Current Status: Accepting applications through November 1, 2009. Program Application The Influenza Pathogenesis and Immunology Research Center (IPIRC) plans to provide training of senior postdoctoral fellows focused on research in influenza virus pathogenesis and immunology. Recent events have brought into sharp focus the need to develop highly skilled investigators in the microbiology, replication, pathogenesis, immunology, diagnosis, detection, prevention and treatment of influenza. This program is designed for senior postdoctoral fellows who wish to develop or refocus their career on influenza pathogenesis and immunology. As an NIAID Center of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance, we are committed to establishing exceptional career development programs for new and established investigators in basic research in influenza. Overall, the goal of the senior postdoctoral program is that upon completion of training, participants can effectively conduct independent high-quality research on influenza virus pathogenesis and immunology, compete successfully for junior faculty positions, and serve as future research mentors. Program Plan The goal is to place individuals in premier influenza virus pathogenesis and immunology research laboratories in order to learn in-depth the methods and disciplines related to influenza research. Successful candidates will be expected to commit to work in the research programs of the sponsoring laboratory. Faculty research programs currently supported by IPIRC are described on the IPIRC website at www.IPIRC.net.
