RESEARCH SPECIALIST

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in a scientific field.
Departmental Information/Preferred Qualifications: A position is available to study cell-to-cell signaling in bacteria. The position will involve using genetic approaches to isolate bacterial mutants that are blocked in the signaling pathways. Basic molecular biological techniques (sub cloning, sequencing, transpose mutagenesis and allelic replacement) will be used to identify and characterize relevant genes. In addition, biochemical approaches will be used to purify various signaling molecules. Experience in basic microbiology is a plus, but not required. The position will also involved basic lab maintenance, such as dishwashing and ordering supplies.

RESEARCH SPECIALIST

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in a scientific field.
Departmental Information/Preferred Qualifications: Will be involved in research on the immune response to viruses. Genetic approaches to analyze gene expression in T cells will be used. Job duties include some handling of mice and the isolation of mouse tissues. Molecular biology techniques (RNA and DNA isolation, sub cloning, PCR, sequencing) will be used to study relevant genes. Experience in basic microbiology, sterile cell tissue culture, preparation of cells for flow cytometry, and in other immunology and virology assays is a plus, but not required. Ability and willingness to learn the use of DNA and cell analysis software is a further plus. A focused and diligent individual who functions well in a large group is sought.
